The CENTREX 2000 AF AC/DC can be used with or without electricity and does not use water. This makes it a great option for those living in areas where water needs to be conserved. Additionally it works well for applications where electricity is not available at all or is sporatically available. It is designed for heavy occassional use or light daily use. The unit works with a traditional looking bathroom fixture, must be installed directly under the toilet fixture. It is important to remember that this system does not include the toilet fixture, but rather the central composting unit. The toilet fixture to be installed in the bathroom is sold separately.

When operating electrically, the CENTREX 2000 AF AC/DC has a thermostatically controlled heater that warms and evaporates liquid and a fan assembly to maintain a partial vacuum within the unit at all times, ensuring odorless operation. When the power is out, the unit will default to the 4" vent stack with 12V fan unit that constantly draws air upward and out of the unit to maintain odor free operation (please note, power source for the 12V fan is not included, you'll have to provide that on your own).

All units in the CENTREX 2000 family have been tested by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) and are certified to comply with NSF-ANSI Standard #41, the only North American performance standard for composting toilets. This testing and certification guarantees that this system will operate odorlessly and produce a clean, dry compost that is safe and sanitary. Visit the NSF website to see the CENTREX 2000 family's NSF Certification Listing.

How to operate the CENTREX 2000 AF AC/DC:
  • Initially you will need to put some add some Microbe Mix into the Bio-Drum™ together with some Compost Sure (peat bulking material).
  • The composting toilet system will compost all kinds of toilet paper without a problem.
  • For day to day operation, add a cupful of Compost Sure daily for each person using the system. You will need to rotate the drum five to six revolutions, every 2-3 days of operation. When you are using the unit for shorter periods like a weekend, then you can just rotate before you leave at the end of the weekend.
  • Some of the compost should be moved to the finishing drawer when the drum is half to 2/3 full. This is an easy and clean process accomplished by releasing the drum lock and rotating the drum backwards. This causes the finished compost to drop in to the drawer where it will stay for at least 4 weeks to sanitize and complete the finishing process.
  • The compost will be kept separate from fresh material to assure there is no contamination. After the 4 weeks you can open the drawer and remove your compost.
  • Wondering what to do with your compost? The finished product is clean, dry, non-offensive, and sanitary. It will look and smell just like any other regular compost that might come out of a garden composter. So add it to your flower garden for beautiful blooms.
