Customer Reviews For This Product
CENTREX Central systems are an ideal solution for those who want a traditional looking toilet in the bathroom, and who have the ability to place the central composting unit below the toilet. It is important to note that with all central systems, what you are purchasing is the central composting unit that is installed on the lower level; the toilet fixture to be installed in the bathroom is sold separately.
The CENTREX 3000 family are extra high capacity units designed for very heavy cottage use or medium heavy residential use. CENTREX 3000 family units are unique from other central composting systems because they incorporate Sun-Mar's Auto-Flow technology. This means that as the drum rotates, finished compost moves automatically through the drum and into a separate collection chamber at the end of the unit, making finished compost removal easier than ever!
The CENTREX 3000 AF is an electric, waterless central system is designed for homes with a constant supply of electricity. Because this unit uses no water or flushing liquid, it's ideal for those who do not have running water, or who have a very limited supply of water and must conserve what they do have. This system features a thermostatically controlled heater in a sealed compartment beneath the unit that helps to warm and evaporate liquid. Odorless operation is ensured by a 35 watt fan directing air up the 2" vent stack, which maintains a partial vacuum within the unit.

All CENTREX 3000 family systems have been tested by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) and are certified to comply with NSF-ANSI Standard #41, the only North American performance standard for composting toilets. The NST only certifies composting toilet systems that are odorless and that produce clean, sanitary finished compost. Visit the NSF website to see the CENTREX 3000 family's NSF Certification Listings.
How to operate the CENTREX 3000 AF:
- For initial start up, add some Compost Sure (peat bulking material) into the Bio-Drum together with some Microbe Mix.
- Use any toilet paper you want; the composting toilet will compost it without a problem.
- For ongoing operation, add a cupful of Compost Sure per person, per day of use. Every 2-3 days (while unit is in use), rotate the drum 5 or 6 full revolutions. For weekend use, just rotate before you leave at the end of the weekend.
- The unique Auto-Flow technology of the CENTREX 3000 AF means that as compost becomes finished, it will automatically drop into the collection chamber on the right side of the unit where it is kept separate from fresh material. The drawer on the collection chamber can be easily pulled out by hand to remove compost; no tools are required to open it.
- After emptying the collection chamber, the compost should be moved into another bin where it can sit for 6 months to become fully finished and sanitized, before it is used.
- What do you do with the finished compost? Add it to your flower garden! The finished product is clean, dry, non-offensive, and sanitary. It will look and smell just like any other regular compost that might come out of a garden composter.

Model: Centrex 3000 AF
Location: Installed in cabin in CO
Reviewed By: Pete & Carol Radcliff
Dear
Friends at Sun-Mar,
We'd like to say that we are enjoying our Centrex Plus A/F composting
toilet in our cabin in Clear Creek County, Colorado. With the drought
conditions that we in Colorado (and many of the Western States)
are experiencing, it has been great to know that we are doing our
part in water conservation. We installed our central unit during
the construction phase of our cabin and have been using it almost
every weekend and vacation since it was installed (over a year now).
It took very little effort to get used to the maintenance of the
unit. At first there was a bit of trepidation about how it would
all work... but everything has been working well and we have had
few problems. (The 7-and-a-half-feet of snow in the March Blizzard
of '03 was a bit hard on the roof vent stack, but that was a once-in-90-year
storm)
Thanks, Sun-Mar, for helping us save water, keeping our septic field
a "grey-water" system, and giving us a sense of helping
the environment. Our little part in saving an incredible 1.6 billion
gallons of fresh water with other Sun-Mar users everywhere.
