Customer Reviews For This Product
The EXCEL is the highest capacity self-contained toilet and the preferred self-contained model for heavy cottage or continuous residential use. The EXCEL is an electric unit, specifically designed for those with a constant source of electricity. Electrical features include a thermostatically controlled heater in the base of the unit to warm and evaporate excess liquid (if any is present) and a fan assembly in the top rear of the unit that maintains a partial vacuum to ensure odorless operation at all times. EXCEL units are easy to install because they are waterless, and thus require no plumbing or hook-up. The only thing you'll have to do is assemble the vent stack that comes with the unit.

The EXCEL is the world's only self-contained unit that is NSF certified to evaporate all liquids while operating odorlessly and producing a clean, dry compost. When you purchase an EXCEL, you are literally purchasing the unit that sets the standard for self-contained composting toilets!
How to operate the EXCEL:
- For initial start up, add some Compost Sure (peat bulking material) into the Bio-Drum together with some Microbe Mix.
- Use any toilet paper you want; the composting toilet will compost it without a problem.
- For ongoing operation, add Compost Sure as specified in the product instruction manual. Every 2-3 days (while unit is in use), rotate the drum 5 or 6 full revolutions. For weekend use, just rotate before you leave at the end of the weekend.
- When the Bio-Drum is half to 2/3 full, some of the compost should be moved to the finishing drawer. To do this, simply release the drum lock and rotate the drum backwards. Finished compost drops automatically into the finishing drawer. This process takes less than a minute, and most importantly, you never come into contact with fresh material.
- When compost is moved to the finishing drawer, it should be left there for at least 4 weeks so it can finish and sanitize. In the finishing drawer, it will be isolated from contamination by fresh material in the toilet. Once 4 weeks have passed, you can remove the finished compost from the finishing drawer at any time. The drawer is easily pulled out by hand; no tools are needed to open it.
- What do you do with the finished compost? Add it to your flower garden! The finished product is clean, dry, non-offensive, and sanitary. It will look and smell just like any other regular compost that might come out of a garden composter.

Model: Excel, Installed 1999
Location: Installed in cabin near Crystal Lake, Laramie County, Wyoming
Reviewed By: Barbara Curran
We installed the Excel unit in November of 1999. Since the cabin is without plumbing, the Excel was and is ideal. It looks good and everyone can use it without a problem. It has serviced a large group (12) on a given day and is odorless. We are so glad we found this system, otherwise we would not have purchased our "get-a-way".
